today's 12 days of blogging prompt is: favorite Christmas moment that highlights the true meaning of Christmas.  it doesn't matter if you are religious or not, Christmas is about love, family, and to me, Christ.  i think this one can be kind of tricky can be  confused with a Christmas memory.  but what does Christmas mean to you? that is the key to this prompt.

what Christmas means to me is CHRIST.  i get a little annoyed when people get caught up in the gift giving and forget this holiday is about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. taran and i have decided that when we have kids, we are only going to give them 3 presents each because there were 3 wise men who give Christ frankincense, gold and myrrh.  that is what God got, and that is what our kids will get. and that is what we will get too.

the thing that comes to mind first and foremost is when i was growing up we did 12 days of Christmas for our neighbors.  it was so much fun.  we always picked a family and then get them a gift each night for 12 days.

the best part was the door bell ditching.  it was a true art form.  my sister and i had it down.  picking the family had a lot to do with how their house was set up.  were there bushes near the front door, maybe a fence, was it easy to hide quickly once we rang the bell, etc. we did it for years and were never caught!  it was close once but still, never caught!! we are still pretty impressed with ourselves.  at least, i am.

on Christmst Eve, we would reveal ourselves.  some of the families would say "oh. that was you? oh.  okay. thanks." and grab the last gift and shut the door in our faces.  some would start crying saying how much it meant to them.

how well we could hide wasn't the only thing that determined who we would do 12 days of Christmas for.  we would pick a family who needed it the most.  a family who we could really give service to.   that is what i really loved about it.

now grab the button and share your favorite Christmas moment that highlights the true meaning of Christmas!  whatever that might be.  and linkup below!

ps.  this calendar i shared encourages you to give away some clothing to the needy today!  i'm sure your work or library is having a clothing drive! i have a jacket that i really want to get rid of!  don't forgot the true meaning of the season and give some service :)
