Lot 48: the most scared I have ever been

the most scared I have ever been

the other day i was thinking about the most scared i have ever been.  the first thing that came to mind was when i was watching the fourth episode of luther in the dead of night.  that show is intense and that episode was really really creepy.  i had to wake taran up to escort me to the bathroom and have him make sure no one was hiding in any of the closets.  i stopped watching luther altogether after that.

but as i thought harder i remembered when i hiked angels landing on new years day many years ago.  now that was the most scared i have ever been. by far.  for those of you who aren't familiar with angel's landing, it is a hike in zions national park that goes up 1,488 feet and is very, very steep.  my parent's are hikers, but if you know me, then you know that i hate all things nature.  i was reluctant to hike it anyway, even though i had done it a dozen times in my life as this legendary national park was nearly 2 hours away from my home growing up.  angel's landing is a hike that is so high it makes your head spin and not only that, you hike it on a trail that is so thin it is as wide as your shoe.  it is very, very scary.  but to hike it on new year's day when it is icy and snowy makes it a million times worse and is just plain stupid.

i am terrified of heights.  there was nowhere to hold onto because everything was covered in ice.  oh my gosh this is making my palms sweat just writing about this.  it was hard to get your footing because of all the ice.  once you start hiking it, you can't really stop.  it is so narrow, you can't turn around.  you have to go all the way up to the top and then turn around at the top where there is a nice big flat piece of rock where you can picnic.  once you start, you have to keep going.  so many people have died hiking it.  it was the stupidest thing my parents have ever done was to have us hike this on new years day with all the ice.  i was crying.  i was sure we were going to die.  when we finally got to our car, we were so shaken up and were never so thankful to be back on the ground. even now, thinking about it gives me the shivers.

what is the most scared you have ever been?

what is your favorite holiday?  Christmas by far! It’s my favorite holiday (and season) of the year. The only reason I’m not so sad that it’s over this year already is because our daughter will be born any day now, so we have had a lot to look forward to!

if you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?  or where is the fav place you have been that you loved? I would love to go back to Italy someday and spend more time there! As for a place I’ve never been- I would LOVE to go somewhere tropical like Bora Bora or Fiji.

if you had to marry a celebrity, who would it be? My husband is somewhat of a “celebrity" back home in CA (thanks to his career/s) so does he count!? Seriously, he’s a stud. :) As for a “real” celebrity though? To be honest, I really can’t think of anyone.

what is your dream job? I would love to own a Bed and Breakfast and a cozy coffee shop someday! But in the next year or two my goal is to finally reach my dream of starting my own fitness training business (I know, totally different than the B&B/coffee route!). Supporting other women who are pursuing their goals of living a healthy and active life will be a dream come true!

  1. I think my brain has blocked out my scariest event/incident. Because I know something happened fairly recently, and I remember thinking it was the most scared I have ever been, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was, what happened, or even exactly WHEN it happened. Maybe it's best if I don't remember...

  2. I'm terrified of heights also, but LOVE roller coasters and thrill like that...I'm an odd bird in that way.
