the color festival

Hello friends! I'm on my honeymoon lying on the beach in Jamaica right now,  but I didn't want to drop off the face of the earth and not post while I was away, so I have written this post for you to get excited about spring! Because spring is coming. We made it to February and the end is in sight! So I thought it would be fun to share a fun spring activity that we have here in Utah and in other cities in the west as well! Enjoy and have a great day!!

Every March, there is this fabulous Color Festival that happens at the Hindu temple in Spanish Fork, Utah.  It is iconic and so much fun.  Literally everybody goes.  The biggest one is near the college town of Provo, a 50 miles south of Salt Lake City and has two universities in it.  The festival is always PACKED and parking is ridiculous.

It is best to wear a white shirt and clothes that you don't care if they get ruined. Because they will get ruined.  The color washes off pretty well, but your shirt will never be really white again.  It's also smart to wear a bandanna over your hair.  As you can see it hanging from my pants, I brought the bandanna but ended up not wearing it.

The festival is soooooo much fun.  This is literally what it looks like. You stand in this huge crowd and there is a band playing and you dance around and paaaarrrtaaaay! There are scheduled times for a "color throw" which is what it pictured above.  You can also go inside the temple, but they spray you off with this air thing to get all the color off before you go into the temple.  There is also yummy Indian food that is sold.

You get pretty messy! And as you walk up the street from where you park, people will just start throwing color on you, so be sure to close your eyes! Getting it in your eyes isn't fun.

Looks fun right? The festival is now in several cities in California, Nevada and Utah. Be sure to check out the website to see you if can go! I highly recommend it! It is a lot of fun!
