Lot 48: Hometown Bridal Shower

Hometown Bridal Shower

Over the weekend, I went to my hometown for my bridal shower.  It was absolutely amazing and I was so grateful for everyone's help and kindness! I have always dreamed of my bridal shower and was so excited, i could barely sleep the night before. The day was absolutely perfect.  A huge thank you to my sister Andrea who took the pictures!

^^^doesn't the table look amazing?? Even though my oldest sister Jessica couldn't attend as she lives in Kansas City, she came up with the ideas for all the decorations and they just looked amazing!( i am a horrible photographer, and you can definitely tell I took this picture, but oh well.)^^^

^^^we had quiche and a waffle bar with all the toppings you could possibly think of! yum!^^^

^^^we also had a hot chocolate bar! my mom dipped marshamallows and spoons in chocolate in sprinkles to stir the hot chocolate! how creative! The chocolate melted into the cup and it was diviiiiiiine.^^^
^^^they hung balloons and tied my engagement pictures to them! so cute!^^^

^^^this is my maid of honor, Elise.  We have been best friends since 8th grade. She has been such a huge help during this whole wedding planning process and I am so grateful for her!

These are my lovely sisters (with my oldest sister missing).  They were beyond sweet to come down for the shower! They weren't even in town for 24 hours, they arrived at 8pm on Friday and left at 2 pm on Saturday. They were soooo helpful and wonderful. I am so blessed! Andrea was a rockstar and was helping with everything even though she was pregnant and tired.

^^^so many of neighbors came and I was so glad they did.  They practically helped raise me as my neighborhood is a very close-knit community.  I love all these women and look up to them so much! I am so glad they came!^^^

^^^Elise then told me to sit down and that we were going to play a game.  I knew what was coming.  It was the game where the maid of honor asks the groom questions beforehand and records his answers.  Then at the shower, she asks the bride the same questions and sees if the bride's answers matches the groom's answers.  It was a lot of fun! And I gotta say, i was pretty proud of how many questions I got right!  I'd say Taran and I know each other really really well.^^^
^^^there is a tradition in my neighborhood whenever there is a bridal shower.  The host asks the groom 12 things that he loves about the bride and then the bridesmaid/host puts each thing on a rose. I loved Taran's responses! I could not stop smiling when my sister read them to me, my cheeks hurt! I really am marrying such an amazing and sweet man!^^^

^^^then my mom went and got Taran from downstairs (apparently he fell asleep waiting) so everyone could meet him! They all asked him to tell the story about how we met and to tell them things about him.  I might have just stared at him. He's just so handsome!

^^^And then we opened presents! There was this incredibly embarassing moment when I received monogrammed towels with our names on them and said "oh wow! They're mammogrammed!" Oh geez.  The room erupted with laughter and I am sure I was beet red.

^^^we got our first set of dishes and I was explaining to everyone that when we were registering for the dishes, the sales girl told us that the dishes were very durable and wouldn't break.  She then said that we could throw them to see for ourselves.  I didn't believe her and thought she was trying to trick us into the whole "you break it, you buy it thing" and was too nervous to throw it.  So Taran threw it and it didn't even make a dent! I ended the story by throwing the bowl on the ground. (also, when we got a frying pan, I said "is it just me, or does everyone else think of Tangled when they hold a frying pan and of Rapunzel hitting Finn with it over and over?" so i swung that thing and luckily i didn't hit anyone...)^^^
^^^another friend I've had since 8th grade recently had a baby.  I was so happy to finally meet her (she was born in October and I am just now meeting her!) and she was so curious and sweet.  My sisters and Taran (I'm so glad he loves babies as much as I do) were standing right behind me waiting their turn to hold her.^^^

^^^baby Amelia!^^^

now prepare yourself for loads of pictures with my family!
^^^I can't even tell you how grateful I am for my mom.  She is one of the most amazing people and bent over backwards to give me a perfect bridal shower.  I spend a lot of time trying to be more like her. I'm the luckiest.^^^

^^^this is what happens when Andrea tells me to wait while she sets up the shot. "Model" poses happen.^^^

^^^we had to get a picture with Dad too.  we sure were missing my other sister Jessica!^^^

^^^I really, really love this guy and can't wait to marry him in 25 DAYS!! I can hardly wait.^^^

my mother in law is throwing me a shower this weekend as well! I am so humbled and blessed by everybody's generosity and kindness.

xoxo, Lauren
