Date with Eli - Natural History Museum

I really love taking my nephew Eli on dates.  I really really love doing that.  It makes me so happy.  Eli is my best bud.  He is so smart.  On the drive to the museum, we drove past the power plant and he pointed to it and said that's an oil refinery!  And as we past construction, he pointed and said that's an excavator! and as we past where he goes to eating therapy, he said "doctor! therapy!"  he is so smart.

We went straight to the kid's room when we got to the museum.  They had little rocks that had frogs and stuff in them that you could look at.

And they had binoculars!  He loooooooved the binoculars.

They had a fake river with toy fish and water bugs and nets to catch them in.  Eli looooooved it.

As you can see.  He played and played and played in there and did not want to leave!

They had little costumes you could put the kids in, so I put him in this one.  Look how cute! He didn't like wearing it, but I insisted.

Then it was time for dinosaurs.  He was really excited to see the dinosaurs and kept talking about it, but when once we got there and he saw how big they were, he got really scared.  He froze with a look of terror in his eyes.  I had Taran go ahead of us to show him they weren't going to hurt him, but Eli didn't buy it.  I tried to explain that the dinosaurs were fake and they weren't going to hurt him.  Eli clung to me and look oh so scared.  It was so sad but really cute.  So then I asked him if he wanted to see the dinosaurs and said "I don't want to, I'm scared!" And ran away.

So then we found this room where they had a bunch of toys.  Notice how he left all the dinosaurs in their basket?  He didn't even want to play with the toy version.  He put the dinosaurs that I pulled out back in.

Best buds.

He got these blocks and built the tallest tower!  Taran was so impressed that it didn't fall over.  Eli was determined to build it as high as it would go.

He could barely reach the top of the tower.

They had a natural disaster exhibit so I asked Eli if he wanted to go see the tornadoes.  He said yes.  I am an idiot and didn't take one picture inside the exhibit, but this is the entrance.  There were interactive exhibits on hurricanes, volcanoes, earthquakes, mudslides and tornadoes.  He was fascinated.

Then we went to the life exhibit.  There were interactive things to build cells and learn about all kinds of wildlife.  This is a picture of Eli climbing on top of the fish bowl.  He wanted to open it.

Eli totally loves Taran, and why wouldn't he?  When I picked up Eli, he asked, "Where's Taran?" and I told him he was meeting us there but Eli kept asking where he was.  When we went to Wendy's afterward, Taran followed us in his car and all the way to Wendy's Eli asked where Taran was.  I asked Eli if he missed him and Eli got his shy look on his face and said "yeah!"  When I asked Eli if he wanted to go see the ants, he turned to Taran and said "Come on, Taran!  Let's go see the ants!"  Melted my heart.

My oh my do I love Eli.  He is my bestest bud.  And I am his favorite aunt.  I ask him who is favorite aunt is every time I see him.  And Taran asks him when I am not around too, just to check and the answer is always "lauren!" yesssssss.  mission accomplished.
lauren out.

Missing London

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Remember when I did a study abroad in London and it was AMAAAAAZING? And the best time of life?  Aaaaaahhhhhhhh, the bliss.  the bliss of it all.

People have been talking about London a lot lately and it is making me miss it.  My friend is going there in October.  My other friend is dating a guy who lives in north England.  And my new niece's name is London.  And my boyfriend served his mission in London.  And Princess Kate is about to have her baby, so that is everywhere on the news.  There is a lot of talk about London!

I have just been remembering waking up in my flat to the noise of foreginers talking loudly at the embassy next door.  I remember walking across the street to Hyde park.  I remember that 15 minute walk to the tube stop, swiping my tube card, walking down the steps, hearing street performers, and getting on that tube that would take me to the next adventure. Everyday was an adventure!  It was fabulous!  There were no worries or concerns! I just played allllllll the tiiimmmmmeeee!  Non stop!! I lived in one of the most exciting and fabulous and wonderful cities in the world! I miss it so much!  I could go on and on about all the things I miss, but instead I will just share some pictures.

London oh London, I miss you sooooo much.  I would like to go back to that time of life.  It was such an amazing time of life.  But I cannot.  Stuck here in the real world.

You can read my blog that I had while I lived in London here.

He is 3

Has anybody noticed that I really, really, really love my nieces and nephews?  Have you caught onto that yet?  Probably.

We had a birthday party for the my best bud Eli on Sunday and it was so much fun!  Look at all the presents for that kid!!

Oliver got a little jealous of all the attention Eli was getting so he had to sit on his mama's lap to feel included.
Taran and I gave him a bubble gun which he LOVVVEDDDD!  Oliver loved it too and started crying when Eli wouldn't let him play with it.

My parents got him a BIKE!  A bike with training wheels! A BIKE, I tell you!  Eli was asking that Ama and Grandpa come to his party, and how are you to say no to that?  So they came up for the weekend.

Taking off into the great unknown on his hot new wheels.  He is OUTTA here!

Avery and Oliver wanted to give us a concert.  They love playing the piano together.  Avery was so cute, and she would play and then turn around and look at us and then we would clap for her and she would get this huge grin on her face and clap for herself and then do it all over again.  I think she loves attention.
It was a mickey mouse party!  Andrea made this awesome cake for him.  How cute is that?

He did a very good job blowing out the candles.  I can't believe he is 3!  I remember so well when he was born and I have been thinking of all these memories I have of him when he was a baby.  I can't believe how big he is and how grown up he is!  It makes me teary.  I can't believe how much I love him.  Boy oh boy, do I love that boy.  He is so handsome and kind to others and smart and is a very social and inclusive little boy. I cherish our aunt/nephew dates.  We have another one coming up and I can't wait!  I get so excited to take him out.

Birthday boy with Ama and mommy.
(Ama means grandmother in Basque, the native language of my brother Jon.  We want to grandkids to have a different name for each grandparent, so my mom is Ama, my dad is Pop pop.)
I tried to get him to look at the camera.  He did not oblige.

Rockin' the mickey ears with mommy and daddy.

Every party is more fun with this guy around.  Everything is more fun with him around, really.

Happy birthday my sweet baby boy!  I love you so much!  Can't believe you are 3!

I severely dislike summer

It's too hot, guys.  It is just soooo hot.  And I really don't like the heat.  Which is funny, since I grew up in such a hot place.
The only good thing about summer is this (especially since the new place i moved into has a pool and i use it everrrrry single dayyyy. last night Taran and I were driving home and I said I am jumping in the pool the second we get home and he started laughing and said I have been in the pool more than I have ever been in my whole life in the two weeks since you moved into that place.  so.... i guess we go there a lot.)

 And this

I enjoy this as well

This is good too.  Especially with my pass of all passes

And I am rather fond of this

But guys.  It is sooooo hot.  Taran took me in his car the other day with NO AIR CONDITIONING.  let's just say harsh words were said.  from me.  we aren't taking his car ANYWHERE until November.

Fall is my favorite season.  And I can't wait.  3 MONTHS UNTIL OCTOBER!!! Counting down.  I lloooooooove fall. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE FREAKING LOVE IT.
3 months.  I can do that, right?
